Odell P Killabrew
November 13, 1955 ~ October 13, 2023 (age 67) 67 Years Old
Odell P. Killebrew was born on November 13th, 1955, in New York City to parents Vivian Anna Willis Killebrew and Robert Barrett. Odell known by all as
"POP" was raised in Harlem, NY where he graduated from George Washington
HS and continued his education at the Computer School of NY. Pop's favorite pass time was singing with his group or on 155th Street at a Rucker Park Basketball game. Pop worked for Bell Telephone Company, he was a Computer Technician for Chase Bank and he worked at the North Star Pub on South Street Seaport.
Pop married Lynda Wilson in 1984 and from this union they had four beautiful children. In 1993 Pop relocated to Richmond, VA with his family while still working at the North Star Pub in NY only coming down to see his family on his days off. Then he landed a job with Richmond Redevelopment and Housing as a landscaper. Pop continued his education to become a Housing Supervisor of Maintenance. Pop continued to work until an unfortunate occurrence in the form of an Aneurysm in 2008, which left him disabled. Since then he had several strokes and health issues, despite his challenges he was still present for all family events. When asked he would always say "I'm Alright" even when he wasn't, he never complained. Pop's medical conditions continues to persist which led him to be in and out of the hospital and nursing home. The day before he passed he said he just wanted to lay down. Odell "Pop" Killebrew was a good, kind man, the nicest man you would ever meet! He made everyone around him comfortable, he would do anything for anyone and the word "No" was never in his vocabulary.
Pop Passed in Central Lynchburg General Hospital on October 13, 2023, he fought a good fight and when he said he just wanted to lay down The Lord came and took him Home. In Pops words "Real Men Don't Cry" But not Today, Today the Real Men are Crying.
