Lucille H. Burroughs of Miller Lake Rd., Rice, VA was peacefully rested on February 13, 2022 at Centra Southside Hospital in Farmville, VA. She was born on September 16, 1924 in Rice, VA to the late Gene and Emma Mottley.
Lucille was educated at Hubbard School in Rice where she received her accomplishment through the sixth grade. After receiving her first communion at eight years old, she joined the Calvary Baptist Church, Burkeville, VA and became familiar with the Holy Spirit.
Lucille at age sixteen later moved to New Jersey with a live-in residential of employment and after several months of working, she relocated to Virginia, met her fiancé, married and gave birth to eight children. She acquired domestic employment for over forty years.
Lucille was preceded in death by her first granddaughter, Cynthia Reed; her first husband, William McKinley Haskins, Sr.; her second oldest daughter, Catherine A. Kitchings; and grandson, Vincent Hickson. She leaves her heartfelt children of seven, Shirley Reed and Yvonne Evans of Rice, VA, Marion Hickson Dance of Blackstone, VA, William McKinley Haskins, Jr. and Vernell Haskins of Paterson, NJ, Ruby Haskins of Old Bridge, NJ and Mary McCoy (Tommie) of Moosic, PA; thirteen grandchildren, Christopher E. Haskins, Tishia Haskins, LaShana Jackson and Lasheena Hickson of Blackstone, VA, Johnny Chisholm of Jersey City, NJ, Janice Haskins and Otis Haskins of Paterson, NJ, Aleesa Mac of Hackettstown, NY (Brian), Curtis Fields of Syracuse, NY, Chanell Fields of Scranton, PA, Collins Fields of Homestead, FL, Cory Fields of Maywood, NJ; many loving great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins and a special cousin, Thelma Southall of Fredericksburg, VA that is 102 years old.
Ma will be greatly missed because she has been a beautiful, loving, kind and a sensitive person who survived all hardships until now. She was “one of a kind”
