Obituary

Jerlean G. Simmons, daughter of the late Charlie Otis Glass, and Agnes Fitzgerald Glass, was born on October 17, 1934 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.

Jerlean spent most of her life working at Tyson Foods in Crewe, Virginia until her retirement in 2005. She resided in Rice, VA, but answered the master’s call in Farmville, VA on June 29, 2023.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lawrence Simmons; two brothers William “Bay” Glass and Clarence “Buck” McLaughlin; and one sister, Thelma “Boot” Younger.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her seven children: Betty Johnson (James), Bobby Simmons (Yvette), Dorothy Davis (Mark), Jeannette Simmons, Joyce Johnson (Samuel), Willie Simmons, and Diane Simmons; one sister Dorothy Uzzle of Matoaca, Virginia. Jerlean leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She also leaves 3 sister-in-laws: Lois Eppes, Mamie Eppes, and Mary Robertson, a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends
