Trula Turner Whaley, 95, of Crewe Virginia, while in the presence of God and her loving family, went peacefully to her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.  She was at home at the time of her passing and lived with her daughter and son-in-law.

Better known as Nannie, she was born in Sevierville, Tennessee, on May 2, 1922, and was married to Estes R. Whaley for 66+ years prior to his passing in 2006. Her life was dedicated to cooking and taking care of her family with unconditional love and service. In earlier years she loved to sew and worked at the Crewe Garment Factory where she was surrounded by friends.  She loved her church and was a dedicated member of Crewe Baptist Church since 1960. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Manuel Adams; grandchildren James R. Wallace (Jackie) and Rhonda W. Elliott (Mark); great-grandchildren, Tori Duke (Will), Mitch Wallace, Travis (Kaylin) Elliott, Regan Elliott, Randall Whaley (Felicia) and Alex Martinez.  Nannie loved numerous nephews and nieces.  There was always a special place in Nannie's heart for Tennessee and her nephew and wife, Ralph and Wanda Whaley visited often and kept that feeling strong.  Before her passing, Nannie was blessed to meet her four great-great-grandchildren for the first time. Nannie was preceded in death by her husband, Estes R. Whaley; son, Harold R. Whaley; and granddaughter, Donna W. Martinez. Memorial contributions can be made to the Crewe Baptist Church Music Fund. The family will hold a visitation on Friday, February 23, 2018, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Jennings - McMillian Funeral Home,200 W. Carolina Ave., Crewe, Virginia. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018, at 11:00 am at Crewe Baptist Church, Crewe, Virginia with interment at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice, Virginia.
