Opal Lee Jones Paulette of Farmville, Virginia, passed away on April 20, 2017. She was born in Galax, Virginia, on December 17, 1939, to the late Homer W. and Helen B. Jones. Opal moved to Charlotte Court House, Virginia, as a teenager where she attended Randolph-Henry High School and graduated from Mayfair Beauty College. She married Andra Wallace Paulette on April 21, 1957, and dedicated the next sixty years to being a wife, mother, and her most treasured role of grandmother. Opal was a talented seamstress, beautician, cook, and Gardner, and all who know her were blessed with her crafts, gift baskets, and care packages. And there was always room for one more at her kitchen table. She was also a successful businesswoman and a founding member of Jon-Paul Enterprises, Inc., a family-owned business. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Linda Jones Ferrell; and her beloved granddaughter, Emily Blair Cook. She is survived by her husband, as well as a son, A.W. "Buddy" Paulette, Jr. Orie Zaklad; a daughter, Brook Paulette Cook Randall Cook; a granddaughter, Hannah Grace Cook; five brothers, Keith H. Jones Joy and Kolen S. Jones Beverley of Chesterfield, and Kenneth W. Jones Laraine of Keysville, Kurtis R. Jones Cindy and Kermit E. Jones Rhonda of Charlotte Court House; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 23, 2017, at the Farmville United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
