Margarett Wilkerson, 84, of Hampden Sydney went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2025. She was born on May 30, 1941. She grew up on her family's farm in Cumberland County. She attended John Randolph School and later continued her education receiving her Associates Degree from SVCC. She retired from Prince Edward County Public Schools, where she was often referred to by students as "Mom" or "Momma Wilkerson", because of her nature to help kids. She was best known for her cooking, love of birds, flowers, Fats Domino, and above all her children. She is preceded in death by her parents Sam and Elizabeth Dowdy; siblings: Bernice Wooten, Lucille Hensley, Edith Parker, and John Dowdy, and a grandson Rodger "Aaron" Wilkerson. She is survived by her four children: Robert "Dwight" Wilkerson (Lisa), Rodger Wilkerson, Brian Wilkerson (Sarah), and Theresa "Sissy" Borum (Jeff); two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be forever missed. A funeral will be held Monday, January 5, 2026 at 1:00 at Puckett Funeral Home with graveside service immediately following at Trinity Memorial Gardens
