It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Lavanna Maxine “Bonnie” Gibbs, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who passed away on May 7, 2026, at the age of 88.

Born in Crewe, Bonnie lived a life defined by devotion to her family, service to her community, and a lifelong love of learning. She was a cherished matriarch whose warmth, wisdom, and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her.

For over 30 years, Bonnie served her community as a dedicated librarian at the libraries in Crewe, Burkeville and Nottoway. Through her work, she shared her love of books and learning with generations of families, inspiring countless children and adults alike. Her kindness, patience, and commitment made her a beloved presence in all three libraries and the communities they served. Bonnie was also a faithful Sunday school teacher at Crewe Weslyan church for many more years.

Above all, Bonnie treasured her family. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and grandmother, and a proud great-grandmother whose love created a lasting foundation for generations. Her home was a place of comfort, love, and welcome, and her legacy will live on through the family she nurtured and the many lives she touched.

Bonnie will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. We take great comfort that she is now in heaven with her husband Earl, son Robbie, and many other family members and friends.

Bonnie's celebration of life will occur on June 19th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Christ Community Church 1012 W Carolina Avenue Crewe, VA 23930 with burial in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Rice.
