James M. Scruggs, 75, of Burkeville, passed away, Thursday, December 3, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Louise Vause Scruggs, and a brother, Harry Scruggs. Surviving is his beloved companion of 33 years Doris Bates, daughters, Patricia Miller, (Donald) of Moseley, Sandra McPeak (Mike Burr) of Chesterfield, sister, Gloria Oakes of Rice. Three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 7, 2015, from the chapel of Jennings-McMillian Funeral & Cremation Service in Crewe. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Rice. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4 until 5:30 at the funeral home.
