IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frank Martin
(Marty) Easter; Jr
January 21, 1956 – April 16, 2020
Frank Martin Easter, Jr. ("Marty") left this world for his heavenly home on Wednesday, April 16, 2020. Marty lost his battle with COVID-19 while a patient at Carney Hospital in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
Marty was born on January 21, 1956 in Farmville Hospital.
He is survived by his mother, Katherine M. Easter of Crewe; his sister, Linda Easter Davis and her husband, James Kendrick Davis "Jimmy" and their sons, Nicholas Martin Davis and Michael James Davis, all of Buckingham.
Marty was preceded in death by his father, Frank Martin Easter, Sr.
Marty's determination was an example to all. After high school, Marty was a meat cutter for A&P in Richmond until his jeep wreck on July 22, 1981, when he suffered a severe brain injury. Marty beat the odds fighting his way back. His family and friends surrounded him with love and understanding.
During his next 32 years, Marty enjoyed cutting grass, exercising at the Farmville YMCA, checking-in with his friends in Crewe at Freeman Auto and Booker's Supply, then heading home to be met by his best friend, Buck, a yellow lab.
But on May 24, 2013, Marty could not remember simple tasks and was diagnosed with a mass on his brain. He had two more brain surgeries -- the last one taking his short-term memory.
Because Virginia had no neurological rehabilitation facilities, Marty had to go to Braintree, Massachusetts. When Marty left for Braintree, his journals were found where he wrote down everything including his prayers. This obituary includes the last picture of Marty, taken on February 7, 2020, and his t-shirt left us all a message, "Y'all Need Jesus."
Private graveside services will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Rice.
