Obituary

Anita Oliver Johnson, (56) was born in Crewe, Virginia on October 20, 1968, to the late Douglas Lee Oliver, Jr and Betty Sue Oliver. She passed from this life into eternal life on January 6, 2025.

Anita graduated from Nottoway High School in 1987 and married the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, Theodore Johnson on July 9, 1988. From this union they had two children, Jamal Johnson and Marcus Johnson, and one grandson, Noah Rashad whom she loved with all her heart.

In 1989, Anita pursued a career in Food Services. She was well known in her role as a manager at KFC for 22 years. Anita also worked at Hickory Hill Retirement Home in Burkeville as a personal care assistant for a short period of time and was currently employed at Lowe's Home Improvement where she was allowed to expand her love for flower gardens, home improvement, and planting gardens.

Anita grew up in the church and dedicated her life to Jesus Christ and was baptized at an early age. In 2014, Anita rededicated her life to the Lord and was called into the ministry by God. She was a member of God's Harvest Christian Center where she served as a worship leader, Sunday School teacher, and assisted whenever and wherever there was a need. Anita loved the Lord, loved to study God's Word and loved to share the gospel with everyone she encountered. On June 26, 2021, she was ordained as a minister of the gospel under Pastor Elnora Miller at God's Harvest Christian Center. In April 2023, she graduated with an associate's degree in biblical theology and was pursuing a bachelor's degree of biblical studies from ICBT (International College of Bible Theology), Crewe Campus. Her favorite scripture was "Psalms 34:8 O Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him".

Anita was a precious minister of the gospel, a true worshipper, and true lover of God. She was a part of the ISM (International School of Ministry) prayer team under Pastor Chris Oyakhilome. She was also featured on the cover of the Rhapsody of Realities Magazines some time ago. Some of her travels included Johannesburg, South Africa, St. Louis Missouri and other places with the ISM ministry team. Anita was a wonderful wife, a caring mother, a loving sister, daughter and friend. Her life was a testament to her deep love for Jesus and her commitment to His call. Though we never imagined she would be taken away from us so soon, we find comfort in knowing that she's seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus and enjoying the presence of the Lord.

Anita will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her father, Douglas Oliver, Jr.; her grandparents, Douglas Oliver, Sr, Kate Oliver, Dorothy Jones; her brother Clyde Oliver. She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband, Theodore Johnson, children, Jamal Johnson (Rochelle), Marcus Johnson, grandson, Noah Johnson; mother, Betty Oliver; siblings, Melvin Oliver (Myriam), Gwendolyn Kirby (Mark), Dolly Scruggs (Michael), Kendra Monroe (Michael), Tammi Jones (Bobby); sisters-in-law, Marion Oliver, Renea Evans, Shirley Barksdale (James); mother in law, Patsy Evans, father in laws, Clarence Evans and William (Earl) Ross; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
