Alma Marie Green Fitzgerald passed away comfortably in her home on April 21, 2025 in Nottoway, Virginia. She was born in Crewe, Virginia to the late Robert Henry and Sarah Love Green on September 14, 1929.

Alma attended Nottoway Training School in Blackstone, Virginia, and she then received her GED from the Department of Education on April 30, 1987.

On March 20, 1948 Alma married Stanley Fitzgerald Sr., and from that union five children were born, Stanley, Marie, Jerry, Mason and Alvin. She was baptized into the Jehovah Witness faith in 1972. Alma was a seamstress for the Levi Denim factory in Blackstone, Virginia until she retired in 1985.

Alma, was affectionately known as "Buck" by love ones and she was a reliable grandmother when needed and enjoyed looking after her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alma also enjoyed eating out, especially burgers and a Pepsi, watching Sanford and Son, planting and nurturing her flowers, listening to old time country music and attending the Kingdom Hall where she was a faithful member until her health declined.

Alma is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Fitzgerald Sr., brother Henry M. Green (Jim), sister Mable G. Reynolds, sons Jerry M. Fitzgerald, Alvin E. Fitzgerald, Mason Fitzgerald Sr., great grandson Reginald J. Hawkes and great granddaughter Shelby A. Fitzgerald.

Alma is survived by her children Stanley Fitzgerald Jr. (Debbie) of Baltimore, Maryland, Marie F. Hardy of Blackstone, Virginia. Siblings Sylvester E. Green and Mildred E. Green of Nottoway, Virginia. Devoted granddaughters, Donna Fitzgerald-Chaffin ( Walter) and Cashawn H. Hawkes of Nottoway, Virginia, Crystal Morton, Jerome Fitzgerald, Sylvia Fitzgerald, Verdena Spruill, Zavonnie, Yolanda, Mason Jr., Keecha, Malaya and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
