IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Allan F
Foote
August 5, 1945 – July 28, 2024
The world lost a model of humanity and kindness on July 28, 2024 when Allan Foster Foote passed away. He was not only a loving husband, father and grandfather, but he was a friend to everyone he met.
Allan was born in 1945 and raised in the small town of Crewe, Virginia, the son of Blanchard and Leonard Foote. The youngest of 4 rambunctious boys, he hunted, fished and roamed the woods with his brothers Jimmy, Henry and Erving (E.W.). He attended Chowan College in North Carolina and Virginia Tech. He was called to army service in Vietnam where he served honorably with U.S. ground forces of the 199th Light Infantry Brigade from 1969 to 1970. Upon completing his army service, he returned to Crewe to marry the love of his life, Sandy Roop, in 1972. They lived in Crewe then moved to Chester, VA where he worked for DuPont Chemical Corporation and retired after 38 years. He is survived by his wife of 52 years; three children - Elaine Hendrick, Erin McClinton, and Wesley Foote; one son-in-law, Zander Hendrick; 2 granddaughters, Eliza & Olivia Hendrick; and his three brothers & their families. Allan's story is a model of how to live and love with honor, dignity and grace. He was a lovely and joyous man who leaves behind a tremendous legacy of humility, wisdom, good humor and gratitude. He was a consummate giver.
A friend once asked, "What kind of guy is Allan?" The reply said it all: "If you met Allan and didn't like him, something is wrong with you!"
