IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alice J.
Miller
October 27, 1927 – January 23, 2015
Alice Jones Miller peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on January 23rd, 2015 surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Nottoway County, Virginia on October 27th, 1927, to the family union of the late Alpheus and Margaret Jones. To that union, five children were born Edna, Russell, LeBlon, Othella, and Alice. Her three brothers and one sister preceded her in death. She was baptized and joined Morning Star Baptist Church at a young age. She started her early childhood education at Morning Star Elementary School and graduated from Nottoway Training School. She furthered her education at Ingleside Training Institute. She was married to the late David A. Miller and to this union two sons and one daughter were born. She was a faithful wife and a loving mother. Her genuine care and concern was strongly felt by her family and friends. Affectionately known as "Cille" she shared the gift of laughter and joy to everyone she encountered. Her doors were always open for others to receive love and encouragement. When needed, she would offer wise words and advice to give you strength to deal with life's journey. In 1982 she joined Macedonia Baptist Church and served numerous years as an Usher, Treasurer of the Pastor's Aid Circle, The Rising Star Missionary Circle, Women's Activities, as well as the only Chair of the Easter Monday activities committee. She became an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star Evergreen Benjamin #64. She was recognized as a hard-worker and was employed by Piedmont Sanatorium, Stackpole Components, and the Daily Bread. While working with the Daily Bread she served as Site Manager for the Tri-County Area; Lunenburg, Nottoway, and Amelia. She enjoyed interacting and building relationships with the seniors. She spread her warm compassion to seniors of the Tri-County area until her retirement at the age of 81. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children Ronald (Eugenia), Carlton (Loretta), and Patricia Williams; a devoted niece who was like a daughter, Janice Jones, five grandchildren Markell, Latrice (Jamar), Carla, Chanielle and Brittany, four great-grandchildren Zekarius, Cayla, Jayden, and Jordan, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
